What are Home Modifications?

Home modifications are adaptations to the living environment intended to increase ease of use, safety, security, and independence. Modifications can include:

• Changes or additions to the structure (e.g., widening doorways, adding a first-floor bathroom or a ramp)
• Installing special equipment (e.g., grab bars and handrails)
• Adjusting the location of items (e.g., moving furniture)

 

Home Modifications Directory

The Home Modifications Directory is updated annually and serves as a guide on home modification resources throughout the State of Maryland including: Equipment Supplies, Funding Sources and Loan Programs, Home Assessment/Equipment Evaluations, Information and Referral, Licensed Home Improvement Contractors, and Volunteer Organizations.
