Training Curriculum: Law Enforcement and People with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities
Recently revised by the Ethan Saylor Alliance Steering Committee, this downloadable curriculum is available to train law enforcement and first responders on how to appropriately and effectively interact with people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
It has been approved by the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions and meets the entry-level training objectives 09.15-09.21. We believe that it is imperative for self-advocates to have meaningful roles as educators in the implementation of this curriculum. The importance of self-advocates as trainers, particularly for the role-plays and scenario-based learning opportunities, cannot be overstated and has led to significant positive impact among training participants.
