Rent Subsidy Programs
Maryland has a number of programs that help people who have a low-income pay for rental housing in their community. However, the waiting lists for many of these people are long, so it is best to apply as soon as possible.
MDOD helps administer two programs for people with disabilities who have low incomes:
People with and without disabilities can also apply for public housing or
rental assistance through the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8)
program. Contact your county’s Public Housing Agency to find out what assistance is available in your area. Note: For
residents of the Eastern Shore, Garrett, Allegany, and Frederick Counties,
contact the Department of Housing and Community Development, which serves as your area’s Public Housing Agency.
