Below is a list of resources that provides supports and services to individuals with disabilities under the  age of 22.

The Model Waiver for Medically Fragile Children provides services for children with complex medical  needs, from birth through 21, to live in their own homes instead of a hospital, nursing facility, or other  long‐term care facility.  Contact The Coordinating Center​ at 410‐987‐1048 (Baltimore), 301‐621‐7830  (Washington), TTY 1‐800‐735‐2258.

The Waiver for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder provides services to children through the end  of the semester that they turn 21 (or earlier upon their exit from the school system).  Children must  meet a specific level of care and receive over 15 hours of special education services in order to qualify  for the program. Services include: respite care, environmental accessibility adaptations, intensive  support services, family training and targeted case management. The program is at capacity and is not  accepting applications at this time. Contact the Autism Waiver Registry at 1‐866‐417‐3480 to have your  child’s name added. The waiver is administered by the Maryland State Department of Education which  can be reached at 1‐800‐535‐0182, TTY (410) 333‐6442 or click here to view the MSDE website​ for more  information.

The Family Supports Waiver, approved in November 2017 by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, is administered by the Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) under the Department of Health which expects to initiate services in February 2018. The program will provide individual and family supports for children from birth to age 21 with developmental disabilities on the DDA Waiting List. See DDA’s website for more information.
